Licensed customs agents and brokers
Licensed clearing agents and customs brokers are key partners in compliant trade. They act on behalf of importers and exporters to prepare declarations and interface with the Service within the rules.
Requirements
- Valid licence or registration in line with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria and NCS requirements
- Use of the approved electronic systems (e.g. NICIS II) for entries and related processes
- Accurate, truthful information on declarations, supporting documents, and client instructions
Professional conduct
Agents are expected to keep up to date with tariff changes, trade procedures, and anti-smuggling rules, and to report irregularities through official channels where appropriate.
